"Whoa wait, they're real? Golden game badges are real?"

In this homage to The Goonies, Mordecai and Rigby find an old gaming system from their childhood and beat an unwinnable level from a video game they used to play.

Once they do, the game shows them a map to an exclusive golden patch that'll prove they're the greatest gamers ever, leading the two on a quest to claim them — and Benson to track them down for stealing his car battery.

This episode has the following tropes

• Affectionate Parody: Of The Goonies with a little bit of Indiana Jones.
• Brick Joke: When Mordecai and Rigby enter the mall, they blow off an employee with a petition for better clipboards.

  When Benson enters the mall, he happily signs the petition.

• Continuity Nod: The Knight from Eggscellent returns and mention the diner that held the egg challenge has gone out of business which is why he's guarding the way to the golden gamer patches.
• Cool Shades: Mordecai and Rigby don these when they enter the mall, before they realize that they can't see while wearing them.
